Frequently Asked Questions

Is tooth whitening suitable for me?
In the UK tooth whitening is available to patients who are 18 years or older.

Suitable patients must have a healthy mouth and be regularly brushing and flossing.

We will recommend a full dental check-up and clean with the dental hygienist prior to having your teeth whitened.

Will my teeth feel sensitive?
At CJ Dental Studio we offer home whitening which uses a very low concentration of dental bleach. This will ensure minimal sensitivity or discomfort. If you already have sensitive teeth you can still have your teeth whitened, however it may take slightly longer to achieve your desired result.

Please contact us to discuss your options.

How long will it take?
Home whitening can be performed at the comfort of your own home.

During your appointment, custom moulds will be taken of your mouth and your dentist will give you the whitening trays and bleaching gels to be used at home.

Usually this can take up to 10 days before you start to see the shade improving. You can continue to use the gels as often as necessary until you achieve your desired shade. The length of time required depends on the individual and how white you want your teeth to be.

How long does it last?
Teeth whitening can last up to 2 years, however if you enjoy regularly having red wine, curry, coffee or smoking the whitening will not last this long and you might need to reapply the whitening gels.
